A Very Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea at the Sanderson Hotel, London

With the release of Tim Burton’s latest creation, Alice in Wonderland fever has hit! And this Spring, London’s Sanderson Hotel invites guests to tumble down the rabbit hole and enjoy the wonderful world of its Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea in their Courtyard Garden.

With true British eccentricity, Sanderson’s chefs have toyed with the traditional afternoon tea in the same way that Lewis Carroll played with logic in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, creating a gastronomic adventure!

Sample the Queen of Hearts Teacake, which melts in the mouth as soon as you bite through the white chocolate and strawberry shell; the Hazelnut and Passion Fruit Tart, topped with White Rabbit’s pocket watch; and the Chocolate Crackle Cupcake, which surprises with every bite.

Guests will be grinning like Cheshire Cats after pineapple lollipops turn their tongues from cold to hot and mint chocolate chip ice cream lollipops explode with a single bite. Finger sandwiches are served in a rainbow of colours, including ham and English mustard on yellow saffron bread and smoked salmon with cream cheese on green spinach bread. All topped-off with traditional scones with clotted cream and jam to bring you back to the real world. Continue reading

A Tour of London’s Hidden & Most Prolific Squares

‘It’s a Square World in London’ Package

In keeping with our theme of bringing you insider tips from cities around the world, this week we visit London under the local guidance of the concierge at the famous Dorset Square Hotel.

Historic Dorset Square, the original home of Thomas Lord’s first cricket ground, is nestled in the heart of Marylebone. Centrally located between Baker Street and Marylebone underground stations, the square itself is private to residents and hotel guests. The hotel was built in 1817 and is regarded as one of the finest in London, celebrating English tradition and enjoyment of the finer things in life: luxury, style and truly individual service.

As part of a package, the Dorset Square Hotel concierge team has compiled a booklet celebrating some of London’s most interesting squares. Just like Dorset Square, many others have great historic stories, fantastic restaurants and bars, and places of cultural interest.
Together with the booklet, the package includes: city maps, a pre-paid Oyster card (valid on the London Underground and buses), and daily full-English breakfasts to kick start your day of exploring! The package is available all year on Splendia. Continue reading
