Interview of Jenlaceda: a Canadian traveler – blogger – photographer

Spain

On Tuesday 26th May, we did our fourth live interview with a travel blogger on Twitter. Jenlaceda is a true lover of travel and photography so even with a two-year-old in her arms, she still manages to live her passion to the full.  Read on to find out how…

Good afternoon everyone, we are more than pleased to welcome @jenlaceda from myfolieadeux,  how are you?

It’s 10 C degrees in Toronto (to know more about Toronto: Wikipedia) right now, but I am feeling fabulous about this twitterview!

I guessed you would prefer to be in Europe! Could you tell us a bit about yourself? Why your blog, adventures, how do you travel?

Meet Jenlaceda!

Meet Jenlaceda!

I think many will be surprised to know that I am a full-time worker in the healthcare industry, but my passion lies in TRAVEL. I get the requisite 5 weeks vacation/year but I try my best to stretch that out as far as possible by vacationing over Canadian holidays so that I get an extra day here or there. I started travelling when I was 2 years old and my dad would work his behind off to send me everywhere. He himself didn’t travel much, but he made sure I did! For my 16th birthday, my parents asked if I wanted a big party with my friends, but I said, “ NO, I would prefer a trip to Europe.” That’s when a love affair with Europe started. My blog is my creative outlet on pursuing a life long passion and love affair with travel.

We have a question from @velvetescape : When did you get started with photography? Your blog is full of beautiful pictures (more…)

Hi Jennifer (@purplepassport) A pleasure to have you there! Let’s start simply: Who are you, why purplepassport and where are you now?

Hi everyone – I’m in New-York today, but happy to be doing a twitter interview about The United Arab Emirates. I love to travel and keep a blog, diary of the purplepassport, with my best friend Emily (@purplesuitcase). We have matching purple passport covers! I live in the UAE with my husband.

How is the desert climate … after living in other countries, I guess it’s quite a change! What would you advise?

The Desert, by Purplepassport

I arrived in winter when it was cooler (around 20-25 C) so haven’t been there for hot summer yet. People usually say that summer is a time to stay inside, with temperatures reaching 50C! Thankfully there is lots of air conditioning everywhere. One thing that surprised me the most about the climate was the sandstorms – wind picks up and sand gets on everything!

Good luck for this summer then. We have a question from @velvetescape : Dubai has a boomtown, over-the-top ‘Las Vegas’ image. Is it really true? (more…)

Hello velvetescape a pleasure to have you there! For those who do not know you: who are you, where do you come from and why did you choose velvetescape as a name?

Velvetescape during his favorite activity: Traveling

Velvetescape during his favourite activity: Travelling

A pleasure to be there! I’m originally from Malaysia but I’ve lived in Amsterdam for almost 20 years. My background is in banking & economics.
Velvet Escape is about getting away from our daily routine or structured lives and exploring, being adventurous, reflecting and doing it in style (that’s the ‘velvet’ touch!). My travels are my velvet escapes!

And how do you find the time to travel so much? I’m starting to wonder how you’re finding time to work!

I had up to 40 days of leave a year. I took a sabbatical last year, went around the world in 5 months and I’m still on my sabbatical.

Lucky you. I know a lot of people who would love to do the same!

We have a question by one of our fellow followers: @Cristian20 During your travel, what sense develops itself the most? And what was your strongest souvenir? (more…)
