London’s Most Stylish Spots

New York, London, Milan and Paris – the world’s four most stylish cities take centre stage this month. New York kicked off the global fashion calendar last week, but tomorrow the world of fashion turns its well-groomed head towards London. Stylists, celebrities, fashionistas and, of course, models will all flock in to Somerset House to catch the first glimpse of the Autumn/Winter 2013 collections of over 80 designers.

With its huge number of designer department stores, quirky boutiques and vintage shops, London has long since established itself as one of the fashion capitals of the world. Now, following the success of the London 2012 Olympics, Kate Middleton’s famed royal style and the death of respected British designer Alexander McQueen in 2010, it has been named theFashion Capital of the World’ for the second year running.

Here at Splendia we bring you three of London’s most fashion-forward hotspots that you don’t have to be an industry insider to visit.

Start Londonstart1 Londons Most Stylish Spots
Start London was founded in 2002 by Brix and Philip Start, in response to the lack of designer shopping destinations in up-and-coming Shoreditch, in the East End. What began as one store for men and women quickly branched out into three, with one dedicated exclusively to women’s wear. The husband and wife duo pick the crème de la crème of designer items. Here you can find pieces by Alexander Wang and Vivienne Westwood, amongst others, and perhaps catch a glimpse of English supermodel Agyness Deyn browsing through the rails.

Dover Street Market
The concept behind this eclectic store was formed and directed by Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, who wadoverstreet Londons Most Stylish Spotsnted to bring  people from all different walks of fashion together. She achieved her goal in Dover Street Market, where avant-garde fashion hangs elegantly in stripped-back surroundings. The market is great for gifts, and the Rose bakery on the 4th floor is a great spot to have a bite to eat and debate on whether to buy those Givenchy heels or Alexander McQueen dress – or both.

Somerset House: London Fashion Weekend

From classic British labels to up-and-coming designers, find fantastic pieces at reduced prices from all your favourite brands. Watch the unique catwalk show in the British Fashion Council Show Space to see on what’s in and what’s out in the fashion world, and have fun updating your wardrobe!
