Our favourite hotel this month is the uber modern Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom, which overlooks the ancient city of Vienna. This extraordinary hotel, located in a tower dubbed the Nouvel Tower, is the well-known hotel group’s flagship property.
The Nouvel Tower was designed by world-famous architect, Jean Nouvel, as a celebration of light and reflection and maintains a purist aesthetic with sleek steel facades.
Room interiors come in four monochromatic colours, depending on orientation (grey for south, white for north, black for west and transparent for east), and are finished with brightly coloured video-animated ceilings by Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist.
The top floor has glass walls, providing a 360 degree view and flooding the area with light. This incredible space houses Le Loft, the in-house restaurant run by three Michelin star awarded chef, Antoine Westermann, which offers a unique French-Austrian cooking fusion.
Sharing the premises is a vertical garden – a 600 m2 wall encased in 20,000 varieties of vegetation – created by French landscape architect, Patrick Blanc.
Taste the contemporary side of the historic Austrian capital from the comfort of this truly modern hotel…
